Destiny…

An artistic and visually captivating depiction of an hourglass, with shimmering golden coins scattered all around it, symbolizing the profound passage of time and the undeniable value of wealth

Destiny has several definitions, but for this discussion we will use: The power or agency that determines the course of events. Therefore, our destiny is to a certain degree up to us as individuals. Agency also has many definitions and here we will use: The capacity to act or exert power. Nietzsche viewed the “will to power” as the fundamental underlying drive of all life and reality – a ceaseless, creative force of self-overcoming, growth, and expansion rather than just brute domination. It is the inner necessity to exert force, shape reality, and master oneself, representing the “becoming” of life over mere survival. Unfortunately, we may begin to question whether the human family is connected and concerned enough to take control away from those processes and persons who do not have our best interests at heart. Is it clashing ideologies, or religions, or ethnicities, or generations which are the problem? Is it economic structures like capitalism, socialism, or communism which are the obstacles? Is it the vying of industries like fossil fuel versus green energy? Is it the warmongers versus the peaceniks? Our entire planet is now as close to nuclear confrontation as we were in 1962 during the Cuban Missile Crisis. My only request is that anyone reading this post please study these issues thoroughly to get a more complete understanding of what is happening and how it could negatively affect not only our species, but all organic life. In October 1962, on the school bus en route to Nova High School in West Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the driver pulled off the Expressway as we watched missiles on huge trailers being hauled to further south in the State. At twelve years old I was too young to comprehend the significance, but now, 64 years later, I’m appalled at how little advancement we have made to resolve our economic, social, religious and cultural differences!
