Puppet: A person, group, government, etc., whose actions are prompted and controlled by another or others. Also, Slave definition: a person entirely under the domination of some influence or person. At some point in life, it would seem that a person has to realize whether they are controlled and essentially owned by another entity or they make their own choices and decisions. In his seminal work, The Crowd, Gustave Le Bon, the French Polymath states, “An individual in a crowd is a grain of sand amid other grains of sand, which the wind stirs up at will.” A foundational study of social psychology he argues individuals in a crowd lose their rational, critical faculties and become impulsive and suggestible to a collective mentality. In our postmodern world where digital media is omnipresent the ability for forces unknown to the public have become more powerful than ever at developing, directing, and controlling group psychology. We, the great masses of humanity, have to decide whether our global society is moving in a positive or negative direction? This digital-nuclear age has brought us to a tipping point where each and every one of us has made a conscious decision whether to ‘get along to go along’, or make the concerted effort to make our own informed decisions. Perhaps one’s life is just too complicated and difficult to be concerned about major consequences facing our planet. If that is the case then if and when our local environments become negatively affected by major issues that we avoided and failed to address then we have no one to blame but ourselves…
