Resourceful…

Resourceful: Able to deal skillfully and promptly with new situations, difficulties, etc. This word is of absolute necessity to understand the 175 year long war between capitalism and socialism/communism. I’m using the 1848 Marx & Engels Manifesto of the Communist Party as the starting point of this incredible controversy. The economic term ‘Capitalism’ may be better described as ‘Resourceful’, as that was the budding situation in specifically the UK and generally in Europe at the time. The Industrial Revolution was commencing primarily in England & Scotland and the most resourceful men took complete advantage and in the process radically exploited the working class and natural resources to their extreme financial benefit. Adam Smith, a Scotsman, published The Wealth of Nations in 1776 which was the guidebook arguing that national wealth is based on production and trade and that the ‘Invisible Hand’, of individuals seeking self-interest would inadvertently promote the public good through competition. However, as was experienced particularly with reference to oil (black gold) discovered in Pennsylvania in 1859 that the Robber Baron J.D. Rockefeller would subsequently crush all competition proving Adam Smith’s notion of ‘competition’, to be folly! The ‘Golden Rule’, ‘The people with the gold, make the rules’, always wins out and the oligarchs controlling the media and grand narrative fashioned the term ‘Capitalism’ as the be all and end all to solve humanity’s material problems. The next magic trick was to unify Capitalism with the terms ‘Freedom’ & ‘Liberty’, to seal the deal and convince the masses that anyone who challenged capitalism to be against human progress, including ‘life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness’. Humans are resourceful and it doesn’t matter under which flag, religion or master and what we are all viewing in real time during these extremely tumultuous times…
